Bird Island Boat Tours

Had a wonderful experience. Saw lots of puffins and seals along with other birds. The captain and 2IC was funny and shared a lot of knowledge. Our 3 kids and us really enjoyed it.

Great tour, very informative, we had the opportunity to see a lot of birds and lots and lots of puffins.

Nice family run business with a few different seaside cottages. The boat tour was very informative. I did get nausea along with a few others, because the water was a little rough. So plan accordingly. They do have those little bracelets that work like acupuncture to help, but bring your own gravol. It was a very unique experience to see puffins, seals and many other types of birds. A must see experience if you visit Cape Breton!

The tour was beautiful! The commentary by Ian and Vince was both educational and entertaining. We saw many different birds and seals. Lots of puffins and bald eagles. Definitely recommend if you are in the area!

I’m from the US and fit this 3 hour trip into my vacation schedule. It was great to be out on the water again and the boat was very comfy and we were all warm despite cool temps. The father and son team were fun and it was easy to ask questions about the boat, seals, birds and waterway. Bring a hood camera with zoom lens, maybe a backpack with snacks. They have a gift shop with tea, plenty of lavatories, and excellent parking.

Had a wonderful evening! Highly recommended. Our group was all locals and we all wanted to go for years but just didn't find the time. We all are so glad we went and will most likely do it again. The tour guides were fantastic, the scenery is beautiful. Very interesting. So many species of birds.

The Bird Island Boat Tours are a family operation (they have a nice looking small campground too, if you're looking for that), they are super friendly and extremely knowledgeable, not just about the birds you're about to see. You can learn a lot about the area and the habitat around the bird islands too. But of course and most importantly, you can see a lot of birds and learn a lot about them. The boat is comfortable and you can see out everywhere really well and spot all the birds and seals the Islands have to offer. (The Razorbills, the Black Guillemots and of course the many many Puffins of the Bird Islands were my personal favorites). Shoutout to Captain Vince and Ian, thank you for a great tour, that was well worth the trip down from the Cabot Trail!

Amazing place to visit and a must attraction if you’re in Cape Breton area.The crew was very engaged, knowledgeable and fun. The stories were also very interesting and fun to hear from the captain.Thank you for having us. We recommend this highly to anyone that wants to have a great time.

The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The location of the pier and office is also lovely. The boat is very spacious and comfortable, great setup for taking pictures. The ride was very pleasant, good speed and manoeuvring around the islands to see all the cliffs and birds. We got to see so many puffins!In comparison to others, I think this is THE place to choose for the Bird Island tour, especially for photography. Captain Ian had very interesting stories to tell. They also have very cute merchandise :)
